The Topic: America! Yeah!????

At least the new Dominos ad a few years ago came across as, “Hey, America, We don’t suck as much now!” GM has its, “Buicks used to be worse” ads.
At least they weren’t so cynical as to just slap AMERICA! on the product in huge letters and hope people so stupid they might abandon craft beer for the summer.
Wait. It’s an election year where accepting stupidity reaches new heights. Maybe I should rethink those last two sentences.
Has InBev seen any increase in sales, other than what can be attributed to the usual summer vaca swilling? The inquiring mind may not want to know. Why abandon what little, “Oh, ye of little faith,” I have left?
I know: “Never under estimate the lack of intelligence” of the general public. Yet Domino’s Noid didn’t last long, Clippy vanished as well as he should of. Was Clippy a he? A she? An it? Didn’t seem to have any plumbing to check.
Meanwhile SAB Miller keeps trying to sell the “champagne” of beers concept with king whomever in his garage. Tis a tad clever, though not much. Where the hell they ever got “champagne” out of a bev that’s damn near as much adjunct corn as it is barley, who knows. I used to write radio ads and I know BS can be short for advertising.
Sometimes I do wonder about craft ads, like when “Uncle” Sam (Adams) tried to sell us on hops being the same as grapes are to wine.
 Excuse me. I have to sneeze…. “HORSESH…”
 OK, I’m back.
I suppose it’s a good sign that the best craft breweries rarely advertise. When is the last time you saw a Sierra, Lagunitas or even Dogfish ad? Great breweries often sell simply by making great beer these days. And some of the best hardly get out of their backdoor, business is so good. It’s a resurgence in small, local biz that the whole country could use more of, rather than more WalMarts, Applebees’, Home Depots and Walgreens’.
 Now that’s “America!”
